  This Week:

We have had a wonderful week!   The highlight has definitely been getting to know our student-teacher Ms. Cardone.  She is friendly, hardworking and passionate about helping students grow both socially and academically.  She read the book, "The day the Crayons Quit."   The children created their own artistic masterpiece only using one colour, as inspired by this book.

Thank you to all the parents who practiced the peace poem at home.  The students did a great job when we recorded it on Wednesday.

  Our Learning This Week: We have been working on looking at the attributes of 2-D shapes in Math and building our math vocabulary with words like octagon, rhombus and perimeter.  Ms. Cardone read a story called "You Hold Me Up" by Monique Gray Smith.  There was a beautiful discussion on how the people in our lives hold us up.   Our Learning This Week:     We focused on writing a simple sentence.  We learned that finger spaces between the words are very important to help us read the sentence.  We also talked about starting a sentence with an upper-case letter and ending it with a period.  In Math, we are beginning to explore measurement.  We talked about the terms "short" and "tall" being words referring to "height".  We used this vocabulary in a project where we used our shoes to help us understand the real height of a typical bison.
