  Our Learning This Week: 

One of our most popular songs this year was the Banana Song.  This week we learned an important life lesson, which involved a real banana.  We realized that when you open a banana, you can't seal it back up.  We tried.... we used tape, glue and a stapler, but nothing was successful.  When a banana is open, it's open and you can't close it.  The same idea is with our words... when you speak, you can't take back your words.  The life lesson we learned is:

In Math, we focused on number order.  We played a game called "One, Two" and the children were very good sports about when they had to sit down.  We also went outside to do some Nature math, which involved creating sets of five.  We figured out that 20 sets of 5 equals 100!  We are getting a head-start on grade one Math!!!

Home Reading

Today (Thursday, June 17) is our FINAL day of home reading exchange.  The children are allowed to have FREE Choice of three or four books for the weekend.

Our Learning This Week:   The students had a lot of fun using geoboards and elastics to create 2-D shapes.  The students are eager to expand their math vocabulary with terms like;  hexagon, pentagon, octagon and decagon.   We also focused on s t r e t c h i n g the words we want to write.  Children are encouraged to listen for the beginning, middle and end sounds of words.  Students were all so excited about the festive holiday centers Ms. Cardone created for December. Dates To Remember: Friday, December 4 - Parent/Teacher Conferences Wednesday, December 9    Library Book Exchange Day Friday, December 11 - P.M. Kindergarten attends (8:30 to 11:40) Monday to Wednesday, Dec. 14 to 16  - Staff and Students are welcome to wear Festive Clothing and Accessories,  such as Christmas sweaters/socks, Santa hats, Reindeer antlers and anything else you can think of.   Our Learning This Week:   We have been enjoying a lot of holiday art this week.  We created some unique and interesting snow people, which you can see in our window facing outwards.  We have also been busy working on a family gift, which will hopefully go under your tree.   In Math, we are continuing to look at patterns, 2-D shapes and breaking up numbers, specifically the numbers six and seven.  In gym, we had a lot of fun using scooters, running, stretching and moving in a variety of ways. A "Blue Zone" Good-Bye:   Our fabulous student teacher, Ms. Cardone, will be having her last day with us on Friday, Dec. 11.  Fortunately, we can be in the "green zone" when we think about her returning to us for another eight weeks in the middle of February. Our class continues to love the zones of regulation and accurately uses these terms to describe emotions.  Our bulletin board has been very engaging to all who walk by our classroom.
