 Our Learning This Week:

The students loved listening to a few versions of  "The Gingerbread Man." We practiced sequencing the characters and then added our own animals/people to personalize this classic fairytale.  Your child would like to practice their oral storytelling by sharing their green strip with you this evening.

In Math, we focused on the concepts of "before" and "after".  Subtraction and addition often develop naturally when children are confidently moving up and down the number line, both backwards and forwards and starting at random points.  We also had fun playing a "roll and draw" gingerbread man math activity.

Basketballs were introduced in gym this week and the children were very excited.  Many of them are eager to join a club in the future!

Note:

A school-wide email will be sent home tomorrow regarding our plan on how we will celebrate Valentine's Day during this time of covid.

Home Reading:

Your child will be starting our Home Reading Program on Tuesday, January 26.  A Parent Letter will be emailed to you soon with important details and suggestions on how to make this a positive and exciting experience for your child.  Although this letter is long, please read it carefully because it has some helpful tips.  Your child's first response might be "this is so easy!'  However, we want to make sure children are really attending to the words and learning good habits for decoding text.
